Guest guest
Hi All! Does anyone have a recommendation for a home health agency in Los Angeles? My parents are coming to visit in May. They've decided to stay at a hotel with a wheelchair-accessible shower. They are also interested in having a home health aide come in to assist. Vera or Bill , have either of you used anyone or know anyone? Ray in Las Vegas, are you still considering doing a book on travel for the disabled? I have some thoughts about it for you if you would like. I was frustrated in my search for a nice hotel room that was accessible. Even the good hotels are lacking. Thanks, Cindy
Guest guest
Cindy: I live in Orange County so I am not too familiar with the Los Angeles Agencies, but I will ask around for you. I do have first hand knowledge of several in orange county since we had help for both my mother-in-law and for Ken for many years. You might call your local branch of VNA (Visiting Nurses Association). They have branches all over and were our providers for hospice. They do provide helpers here I know. Guest guest
Cindy, I'm working on the book, however, the book is mostly for those who can still get outdoors and fish, hunt, etc. Would be happy to include a chapter on hotels, however, for most hotels, if you call ahead and demand a handicapped accessible room, most will oblige. IF NOT, go to another hotel. Also, If they have a handicapped room on anything other than the first floor, ask about their emergency procedures. For example, if there is a fire, who will make sure that you get out OK? If there a "safe area" (This is required in all new construction, not existing buildings) where you can go in case of an emergency like a fire. I can give you some more information on this if you would like. -- home health referral in CA Hi All!Does anyone have a recommendation for a home health agency in Los Angeles? Guest guest
I will be interested in hearing whether you can have home health services while traveling. In TN, we have been told that you can have home health services only if you do not leave you home for anything other than doctor's appointments. Good Luck! Guest guest
Is that true if you are self-pay? It seems that you should be able to hire whomever you want and need if you're paying for it yourself. Cindy
Guest guest
That's the way it works in Kansas also. If they discover you can leave the house, you no longer have an option to continue with home health. Sally in KS

Guest guest
Sally, No wonder Dorothy left Kansas ) Brownback is also from Kansas ) And he is SO worried about life ) Note - most states are relenting on going to church (and we always had to stop and rest at my daughter's home on the way home from church ) Guess they figured it was hypocritical to claim family values and to ban church.
