Guest guest
Hi Everyone - I am calling upon all you graduates out there to get a consensus on pain associated with having a TT. While I know everyone's threshold is different, I thought I'd pose the question anyway. I had my WLS done Laproscopically and the pain was not much at all. (My C-section to deliver my 11 pound 11 oz baby Girl was worse!) So for all of you out there who had this done, give it to me straight - I can take it! Thanks to all, With Love, Doreen in Somerset, NJ Surgery: Oct. 10, 2001 Lap - Dr. Andrei Lost to date: 121 Pounds!

Guest guest
You're right that everyone is different, but for me the tummy tuck was one of the easiest surgeries that I've ever had. I have had 2 c-sections, hysterectomy, breast reduction and an open gastric bypass. I didn't take anything but Tylenol after the second day after my full tummy tuck (anchor incision). I was a bit sore and there is the " tight " feeling but not real pain. The tightness in the lower abdomen is like a bar or something is sitting across your hip bones. That only lasted about 4 weeks. Plus the tummy is mostly numb so that helps with the pain. I didn't even fill my pain med prescription, didn't even need it. I hope you get lots of responses, but they surely will all be different! Wow - people from all over are in this group! That's wonderful and thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. I want this surgery so bad and dread the thought of being knocked out again! Now that I lost this weight, the stuff that's hanging (ugh!) is just awful and I want it OFF! I would love to wear a shirt tucked in and won't with this ridge there! You have encouraged me! Guest guest
Hi Doreen, I had my tt in June of 2001. I had my arms done at the same time. I never felt the arms. The tummy wasn't too bad - easier than my open RNY 18 months prior. I was back to work in two weeks. Good luck! Guest guest
The absolute hardest part for > me was that he wanted me to lie flat on my back for several days - Helene, I also used a walker. In fact, my surgeon let me borrow one as he recommended it. The laying flat on my back was absolutely OUT for me tho, we were instructed to lie on our backs with four pillows propped underneath our knees. I had to do that for about 4-6 weeks until I COULD actually lie on my back with my legs straight. My TT pain was definitely WORSE than it was with the distal RNY. I took pain meds for a longer period of time for sure, I am cut from between the breasts to the pubic bone, and from hip to hip. I had 152 staples and three JP drains. One JP drain came out in a week, the other two in two or three weeks... NOT a fun thing! However, even through the pain of the tummy tuck, I actually felt better than after the RNY because I could eat to keep my strength up. That was something different. Although, the hospital doesn't seem to know what kinds of food to give RNY patients even tho they know the list... geesh. Guest guest
I have to agree with Carolyn. I had my TT 4 weeks ago today and I am still hurting and I can't stand up straight. All my other surgeries were a breeze compared to this. But my tummy is pretty flat (even despite the swelling). ------------------------------------------------ Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.comT http://www.5dollarhosting.com (877)-838-HOST / .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! ® TT Pain???? > I found the TT the worst pain, by far, of all the surgeries I have had (open bypass x2, breast lift/implants, lower body lift, tt/abdominoplasty, knee surgery, abdom hysterectomy).
