Tegretol is used primarily for counteracting seizure activity in the brain

- calming the storm - seizure activity can bring on everything from

convulsion, to hallucinations to pain depending which parts of the brain

are involved. My oldest daughter takes tegretol to control her grand-mal

seizures, my younger daughter took it for a while to control pain of

Trigeminal Neuragia, effective in both cases, however, my younger daughter

was later swtiched to Neurontin because it left her less sedated and was

more effective for pain relief. My son is taking the anti-convulsant

Valproic Acid which also is an anti-seizure medication and it has helped

bringing his manic days down to manageable. In all cases it takes several

weeks to clearly see the effect and some people fare better on one type

medication designed to do the same thing. There are unfortunately no

silver bullets. Find your own peace in all this madness, some of it is

bound to rub off on Warren Neurontin has been very effective for me also

bringing much of my facial pain and pain in my hands down to bearable

(they'd have to pry those from my cold dead hands).

Doing a little reading, " The Measure of Our Days " by Dr. Jerome Groopman,

I've always like his articles but couldn't afford the books until I found

this one on a sale table.

Saw my doctor today. Apparently the X-ray lab failed to leave the message

to go straight back to my doctor (that was a month ago). Constipation has

hit a new level of nasty (like I didn't know), start on a new med for it

tomorrow (I'd tell you what it is but I can't read the script). The

swelling around my eyes is not an infection (whew) but edema caused by

lousy circulation. He said Shy-Drager out loud to me three time today

(yes, I counted), had to walk off that reality a bit. I'm courting

diviticulitis (anyone else?), apparently. Beats me wwhy it took over a

decade to get that x-ray, or to get someone to deal with all the pain it

caused - it should not be so hard to get someone to listen (better late

than never). I can rationalize that seven years is only an average and

many live longer, but I feel I'm on borrowed time.

My SOB has been a prominent feature lately, tried to analyse it today, lots

better if I breather through my mouth (just very unnatural.) When I'm

really gaspy I cover my mouth with my hand and stick out my tonge and take

at least three deep breaths, my colour improved visibly.

More abbrv.

CHF = congestive heart failure

NIMBY = not in my back yard

By the way, is there an abbreviation for abbreviation?
