Guest guest
Hi Jodie I had a pain that was in my lower part of belly, about 5 inches from my incision site (bellybutton) while I was in the hospital. The doctor said that it was most likely a muscle strain. Then the same thing happened at about 7-8 weeks out, just to the right of my bellybutton, about 1-2 inches away. This time I was convinced that it was a hernia or infection, or tear. Again, I asked the surgeon, and he said the same thing, most likely it is a muscle weakness/strain, and to wear a girdle to keep the muscles held in better. I did, and the pain went away after about a day and a half, and hasn't returned yet. If you get a fever or redness though, or if it continues or gets worse, you should probably see your doctor. Hope this helps H. > Hi all. Does any post op ever have problems with soreness in the abdomen area? I'm almost 7 weeks post op and just to the right of my incision area sometimes gets sore. Its been pretty sore all weekend and I can't figure out if I pulled a muscle or something else. It was much worse Saturday and has gotten better over the weekend. Its to the right of the incision about 1 " above where my drainage incision was. Any answers? Guest guest
Jodie - I had the same pain about the same length of time post-op. Doc M indicated it was adhesions forming and most especially, the pain was probably from where the gall bladder was removed. Think its pretty normal. Guest guest
Thanks Kris. I went back to work last night and I am very sore today. I never realized how every time I move and lift my arms its pulling my stomach muscles. Are these adhesions the ones you had problems with and had to have surgery for last month? Or just regular ones everyone gets? I'm going to go get a binder and see if that helps with support. Guest guest
Fay, Vioxx? Doesn't that hurt your tummy? I am also achy in the mornings but find that exercise loosens these old joints and does make me feel better. But it all depends on one's pain threshold I guess. Guest guest
Faye, When I still had too many problems to exercise or do much, I went to water aerobics. It is amazing what you can do in the water that you cannot do on land. Barb B. > > I am 60 yo, this AM even after taking vioxx I am really achy. Vioxx is definitely not a good thing for your pouch. Been known to cause bleeds. I have Fibro, and arthritis...I use muscle relaxers and that helps some. My knee started a cting up really bad this past month...and I got a bottle of that " Joint-ritis " and the stuff is great...I was back to walking when I was just dragging my leg behind me before. I have arthritis of the spine and degenerative disc disease, pain at the base of my left thumb sometimes so bad I can't hold things--which the docs don't know if it's arthritis or carpal tunnel. And some days my knees just don't want to work much at all. I do water aerobics 3 days a week and yoga 2 days a week and go walking 2 days a week. Each of these is for at least 1 hour ea time. I try to bite the bullet and do it even on the days I'm hurting a lot, bcuz I know that the exercise is better than not doing it; the docs always say things will get worse if I don't keep it up. I have 2 large abdominal hernias that I'm planning to have repaired soon, as doc says that may help the back pain somewhat, maybe even a lot. If your achiness is from arthritis, probably the worst thing you can do is not exercise. The guy next door can't even walk without limping, but he rides his stationary exercise bike every 3rd day. He says it hurts like heck the first 10 mins or so, but then it gets better, and he feels a lot better for a couple days. Carol A

Guest guest
Sorry Carol. My tongue lives in my cheek. Yes I do take lots of Calcium. My surgeon and my PCP watch all of this closely. I have blood work every 3 months. The only variance is elevated liver enzymes and a higher bad colesteral. But not like before surgery. I also take vitamin c and b12 shots. Plus of course double dose of daily vits. If my husband
