ROFL! That's a good picture! Unfortunately, in the SCA you can't be anyone real. Not even one of your own ancestors. But, if your husband is a good swordfighter and wins the semi-annual Crown Tournament, you can be Queen of the kingdom you live in. I come from a long line of peasants too. My dad grew up on a farm, and all the ancestors we can count back were pretty much farmers. My grandfather was the son of the postmistress in his little village in Switzerland, and he rang the church bell (ever see on TV those little boys swinging from bell ropes? That was my grandpa as a boy!) Yep, good peasant stock we are. If people ask me what it is I do in the Queen's household, I say I am a cook. There is this certain bread that I make that she is SO terribly fond of, she won't eat a meal without it. So whenever she travels (and Eleanor travelled widely), I get to go along, because she can't imagine life without her favorite bread! Now in real life I use a bread machine, but hey, it's all fantasy, so I can be who I want! Hah! Living the dream ~~ Lyn G (aka Lorète du Papillon, Barony of DragonsLaire, Kingdom of An Tir) (hee hee!)
