Guest guest
Louise, I think many of us may well be in your shoes in one way or another. My thoughts and synpathies are with you. My husband is 6 ft + and 256 lbs. He can still sit (sort of), but has little movement in his body. He is having more and more trouble in feeding himself, which is the only thing that he can still do for him self. We invested an arm and a leg in a lift anchored to the rafters of our house. We got this lift shortly after Christmas. Without the lift and the power wheel chair, I do not know what we would be doing. Speedy is have great difficulty in driving the power chair. He has been in the flower beds, off the edge of the drive way, and turned upside down in the ditch at the edge of the street. Almost every piece of furniture and certainly all doorway trims have deep cuts where tthey have been in the way when he approaches. Thus, someone must be with him at all times. When I think that only two years ago, he was walking on his own and caring for his own needs. Many many things have changed since August 2000. I am finding it difficult to find someone to help in our home. Anyway, my note is to say, that I am thinking of you and do wish that I could offer help. Guest guest
Marilyn, I am so sorry that your husband had progressed so much. I still have Al doing thing, but I wonder how much longer. Today he & I were in the yard and he got away from me and fell again. So I guess it is going to be with the walker, then the W/C but we are there yet.
