Just my .02 here from a recent experience! I just had double bypass for coronary artery disease two weeks ago today. All is well on that issue. However, something of note has occurred. This has been two weeks of no soda, no carbonation, eating sometimes a gunpoint in ICU to regain strength, fighting off meds I did not need and explaining bariatric surgery 10,000 times. Surgery was about 29 months ago. I had regained about 26 lbs from my low (still not at goal) and lo and behold I am back to eating only cup sized meals cause my pouch reduced in size, AND I discovered from a pulse rate and florid face that could not be connected to anything heart surgery related I had reset my dump o meter. I am not sure that soda or carbonation, or the lack thereof , is absolutely responsibile but I have lost 13 lbs of the regain. I eat wee portions, protein first, drink water and stay away from refined carbs or really anything white. Like I say, not saying this would be true for everyone, but it is for me right now and that is my story and I am stickin with it and the re-discovered basics on nutriton as well. > Dan Slone > Surgery 5/2/2000
