Guest guest
Hi all, Here is an excellent website for wheelchairs (I think it was Relles who found it). http://spinlife.com/ It has manual and power wheelchairs and tells you how to fit them. However, it is best to have your doctor give you a prescription for a occupational therapist consultation for the fitting and have the OT go over how to fit it either on his own or using Spinlife's guides. They have the wheelchairs labeled as to which ones are Medicare approved and will work with you to get Medicare to pay for the chair. From my experience the Invacare 9000 XL or the Breezy 600 series were the best chairs. They can be customized to fit you. Charlotte got a Invacare 9000 and I think got a Breezy. You will need documentation from your doctor as to why you need features and the OT can work that out. Note too that detactable wheels help caregivers lift the w/c into the car, but Medicare does not care about the caregiver and will not pay for them. Take care, Bill Werre
