Guest guest
08/28/02 Good morning everyone!! I just wanted to say that one year ago today I had a distal (60 " ) open RNY and it was the best choice I have ever made. My weight started out at 230 lbs on a 5'0 " small frame. I'm currently 130 lbs (and my goal is to get to 110-115) and have also shrunk in height to 4'11 " . I had no complications following surgery and the only problem that I have right now is keeping my husbands hands off me (just kiddin). No, I do have an incisional hernia that needs to be fixed, but will wait until I come up with the funds and will have a tummy tuck at the same time. This site has been a god send to me and has allowed me to meet lots of others going through the same situation. I've also met some folks who now attend the same support group as well as some who live right around the block from me. Thank you to everyone who has wrote to me with advice as well as those who have asked for advice from me. Good luck to those just beginning this journey (it's well worth it) and to those who just had surgery, congrats!!! I'm not much of a poster, but am an addict and read the message board as well as the Q&A also. My routine now consists of 6-7 protein shakes a day (180 g) (ok so I'm a perv!!) as well as trying to get all my water in (so far I'm lucky to get in approx 40 oz instead of 64 oz). I do find that when I eat, I make wise choices and choose the best options for me. I also try to get to the gym at least 3 times a week and was walking during my lunch hour. I started out wearing a size 26 and now currently weight anywhere between a 12 to a 7 (depending on style). Right now I'm having emotional issues with the loss of my father in May as well as my dear gram is now dying (she raised me) so I'm currently off work dealing with these issues and just started seeing a counselor who is a wonderful gal who is working with getting me back to my normal self (whatever normal may be...) Besides dealing with these stresses, my husband (and I both) work for Boeing and with the pending strike, that does not help my stress level. I'm currently off work until the end of next month, but if need be, I may be taken more time off. Right now work is the last thing I need to worry about. Especially since 3 of the 5 people I work with are not very supportive of my decision to have WLS and are trying everything they can to sabbatoge me as well as have been pretty cold to me also. So being off work right now is actually helping take some stressors off me. Thank you again for everything this site has offered me. Love you all!!!
