Just one more thing I want to add to this subject about TT pain. I really

believe that because I upped my protein almost double of my normal amount 8

weeks prior to and 8 weeks after surgery that it helped me so much more with

healing. I can't say that it was what made the pain minimal, but I sure

healed a lot faster than with any other surgery I've had in the past.

Just wanted to share. By the way, I was advised to do this pre-loading of

extra protein from some very special " graduates. "

Thanks again,

Donna M.

AMEN, Donna! Me, too. And, my recovery from abdominoplasty, hernia

repair and butt + outer thigh lift amazed both me and my wife,

because it went to well. Sure, I was stiff in the tummy for about

four weeks, and sure, I slept in the redliner for a week, but I was

able to walk around with ease after a few days. I did not have a

walker at home, but used one in the hospital to do laps around the

nursing station. However, I made good use of a cane at home for

several days.

My WLS was a Lap DS. I had severe incisional pains on day 1 post op,

and the worst GERD of my life on day 2. Because I was so overweight,

my recovery, though generally unremarkable, was slow. I believe

that, in addition to the protein shake overloading and the vitamin K

that I took before the plastic surgery, my recovery was easier

because I was in such good physical shape for this one as opposed to

the WLS.

BTW, I don't recall using the Percoset (pain killer) at home, but I

had the Rx filled anyway. One can never tell when those little pills

will come in handy (do the thought of kidney stones ring a bell?).

On second thought, maybe I did use them for a day or two when I got

home, but I was using pills left over from my kidney stone attacks

last year, and this way, I replenished my supply with fresh goodies.

YMMV,

Steve
