Guest guest
Okay, well in just a few minute I have been inundated by a bunch of private messages telling me several very important facts about ulcers (not heard from Ray yet though) Here it is from three nurses, one ER dr. ( a friend who just happened to call and who I asked) and several eye-witnesses who have long history with ulcers. Symptoms of ulcer can be burning, feeling of upset stomach (especially for ulcers in bacterial early stage), pain upon eating certain things, some say acid, some say bitter; loss of appetite, and many more symptoms, some subtle, some very direct, too long to list here. Black or tarry stools can be caused by many things, and are not the primary symptom of an ulcer in the making, nor chronic ulceritis. Not all ulcers bleed, and not all ulcers bleed until they eat through the lining. However, if one has black stools, something ELSE visceral may be bleeding too, including intestinal walls high or medial, stomach, and lower esophagus. There can also be black stools from excessive intake of certain vitamins and minerals, and from certain prescription drugs. Also, Pepto Bismol and other over the counter drugs can definitely turn the stool black as Hades. (you can also sift them out of the toilet and paint them black with tempera paint, but that does not count.--one-sided smile, sort of) Just my two cents' worth. Seriously now. Truly I would advise person to go to MD.com or other extremely reliable website for written info on medical matters, and of course to their pcp or appropriate caregiver. I like this hierarchy of inquiry for med issues: dr first/ reliable, verifiable med info second/ then anecdotal info from eye-witnesses, in other words those who have had it/dealt with it. Then compare all of the above and see what you would like to do, what are your best bets. hope this helps a little love, ceep G-MOM
