Guest guest
<< Kathy B. Qualifications: Perfect attendance certificate -- 7th Grade >> Hey Kathy B Just my two cent's worth. I would actually like to pool ALL our resources. I'd like to know what everyone's gifts and skills are, just like I know many, many's heart stories here. It would be excellent to know what everyone studied if they care to tell us. I don't think there is any harm in asking when I would like to know. It is amazing to me all the resources we have on this list in many directions, for instant, do you know there are some excellent target shooters on this list, there is also an EXPERIENCED glass blower, a fabulous knitter who has won awards, a bunch of motorcycle mamas who can kick mean butt while standing on the pegs, ten or more craftpeople that I know of, tons of writers, lots of great moms and dads, aunts and uncles, and some people who have given years to studying science. I am interested and want to know. I especially want to know about things that affect our health, since we are so individual, since we just recently were given the death of one post-op from malnutrition, since my own health is frail and that is not an understatement. I have no problem with people labeling their thoughts/offerings as personal and as personal opinion. I am glad to see you had perfect attendance in 7th grade. That was a hard year for many. Between newly found awareness of guys (or gals) and various other temptations to 'ride in cars with older boys' a lot of us were somewhat MIA, 'missing in the afternoon " (grin) love, ceep Repeated kindergarden (serious) Am seriously remedial. Guest guest
My education includes a bachelor and master of science degree in hospitality management. In the pursuit of those degrees I studied nutrition at the baccalaureate and master of science level. I have completed 80% of the requirements for a doctorate in business administration. I taught restaurant management at three different colleges and universities. Most of my in depth knowledge of vitamins and minerals has been acquired through independent study. A great deal of time in the earning of a master of science degree and doctorate is spent in learning and doing research. My pursuit of those degrees left me well equipped to do independent research. Learning about vitamins and minerals is not rocket science. Studies are published and cross references established. An experienced researcher can easily acquire an excellent knowledge of that subject matter. I am certified to teach sanitation and as a paralegal. I am constantly updating my knowledge on obesity and nutritional matters. I subscribe to a service that sends me abstracts from 30 medical journals that relate to obesity and nutrition. I sit on the Ingredient Committee of Bariatric Supplement System, Inc. In that capacity, I interact with experts in vitamin and mineral supplement manufacturing, nutritional needs and bariatric surgery. When I state a nutritional fact, I try to also state the source of that knowledge. I can not, however, prove a negative, like there is no scientific evidence that drinking either caffeinated or carbonated beverages leads to dehydration. If some one can present such evidence, then I would change my opinion. To my recollection, I have stated an erroneous nutritional fact only once, that being that BPD/DS patients need vitamin B-12 supplements. That was incorrect because BPD/DS patients have a stomach that is large enough to make enough Intrinsic Factor and the food remains in the stomach long enough for the Intrinsic Factor to separate B-12 from food before it passes through the pyloric valve. I do not claim to have a perfect and comprehensive knowledge of all vitamin and mineral issues. I do diligently try to verify my information before I communicate to others. Guest guest
I don't work either but I find that I could use a couple more hours in the day! I work out with a trainer three times a week lifting weights, I take pottery classes (where I sculpt naked old people), my daughter and two granddaughters live with us and I am constantly either running them somewhere- soccer, basketball, tennis, etc., I do flower arranging, help out my 75 year old mother, I just finished painting the outside of our house and am getting ready to paint the inside of my mother's, and in my spare time I knit and sew. Three other women and I go regularly to a dinner theater and that doesn't count my support group meetings. That doesn't count finding time for DH (he tends to get out of sorts when he's ignored. Imagine that!) I plan to take a college course in nutrition in Jan. Check out your local adult school and the junior colleges in your area. Bet they have classes that you are interested in and they are cheap. My pottery class is through the adult school at the local high school and costs me $25.00 per semester with all the materials included and they fire all my work at no cost. And I was a sexual assualt volunteer and gave presentations at the grad schools to kindergarten through third grade on personal safety. There's lots to do if you are bored if you just know where to look and sometimes that the problem. You just need some suggestions and then find what interests you. I haven't " worked " for the past 5 years, and my 4 (grown) kids are all busy with their own lives. But somehow, I manage to create enuf " work " for myself that I can't get more than 4 to 6 hours of sleep a nite, I'm so busy
