Guest guest
question to those who have had tummy tuck..... I have not had my consultation with the surgeon yet, but am scheduled for surgery for hernia repair and a tummy tuck in December. I was wondering, though....I heard that you end up losing your belly button with this surgery, at least the way he does it. Anybody know about this? and if so, is it weird to not have a belly button? Seems a bit strange to me....like I may feel like an alien, or something....and then, of course, it would REQUIRE an explanation of some sort to anyone who sees this part of your anatomy, Thanks. marilyn

Guest guest
Thanks to all for the info on belly buttons and tummy tucks. Now I am not sure what to do, since the tt is being done by the surgeon who did my RNY surgery as part of the hernia repair, and therefore, all of the expenses except for the surgeon's fee for the tt part will be covered by insurance. I will have to find out more about this when I see him for my appointment. Maybe he can make the new bb. marilyn 71160@... wrote: > In a message dated 9/30/2002 3:15:31 PM Pacific Daylight Time, > marimuse@... writes: > > > >> I heard that you end up losing your belly button with this surgery, >> at least the way he >> does it. Sometimes the amount and type of surgery needed makes it very difficult to create a new bellybutton.........and they are often prone to infection more easily than the rest of the surgery area and incisions. If it's super-important 2u to have a bellybutton, maybe u should get a couple more opinions from other surgeons. Carol A

Guest guest
Again, many thanks to all who checked in on the belly button issue. I am glad to hear that there are people who have lost theirs and have not suffered any awful emotional scars!! I guess I will ask the surgeon about it when I see him, but then not worry about it..... after all, I think my days of bikinis are over anyway, at 52 years old! marilyn tuesdynite@... wrote: > In a message dated 9/30/02 5:55:54 PM Central Daylight Time, > 71160@... writes: > > << > I heard that you end up losing your belly button with this surgery, at > least > > the way he > > does it.
