Try Zantec for the acid/heartburn. I buy a generic

brand at Sam's Wholesale and get twice as many for

less money and it works just fine. I take one in the

morning and one in the evening. It controls my acid

reflux quite well.

My doc uses Prevacid or Prilosec. Prilosec works for me very well. I had

real ulcers pre-op, in the duodenum, at the esophagus, here, there

everywhere (nope, never had h.pylori).

In the olden days of whole stomach, they used Zantac, but since my WLS (8yrs

ago tomorrow), I've had marginal ulcer several times. The Prilosec seems to

beat it into submission if I get started right away.

a,

I know how bad it can be! I don't know if I actually have ever had an ulcer

but I sure get acid! The docs put me on tons of antacids. Eventually, I

asked about Prilosec because they had me on triple doses of everything else.

They only worked half the time that they were supposed to. Let me tell

you...it was a life saver! Without it, I would be absolutely miserable. I

had to go a week without it once. (No insurance because of divorce and had

to wait for paycheck.) I couldn't eat because things wouldn't stay down. I

was in real pain. I even have a problem with acid getting into my entire

system. Anytime I've had to go without, it even gone to my kidneys. I had to

go to the emergency room when I went without that week. They hooked me up

with antibiotics for a couple of hours and to follow up with pills.
