Guest guest
Vera, These attempts to get into my computer are blocked by my virus checker and my " firewall " . My computer does not allow other computers to access my computer, unless I specifically allow it. It does get to be a pain at times when I have to click allow access for my password to the bank, NY Times or other sites I want, but it allows me to carefully control each access, even if I am not at the computer at the time. If a trojan horse gets into your computer, someone can go in and pull personal info from your computer. Best to stop it before it gets that far. Guest guest
> Sorry your getting so many Virus out there. Sorry about wondering about the attachment's, Well, there are two type of mail viruses. The first takes advantage of HTML code and does lots of work behind the scenes. These are for the most part fairly rare. This type of bug should not be able to do anything destructive, but HTML has been expanded and expanded to the point it can (with small applets .. little applications), which can connect to another site and perform operations. Again they are fairly rare. Second, there are viruses that are included in attachments. Unless you open them they will not activate. I often won't open attachments, even on this mail list. I must know the owner to be knowledgeable and responsible computer user before I open attachments. But the best way to safeguard yourself and others is to practice safe computing. Norton and MacAfee are two great virus scanners. They both can detect email based viruses and neutralize them. It is a wise investment of time and money to purchase a copy and do daily updates. It doesn't take long, but has several times saved my system. Regards, =jbf= B. Fisher
