Guest guest
Vicki, I am the same way. I have had two WLS. One RNY proximal in 1983. Lost from 320 to 145 in a little over a year. But I never experienced dumping and over time, I was able to eat more than 3 oz. Unfortunately, I gained it all back over 18 years (not saying that will happen to you or anyone else). I just felt like a failure and had no support group to let me know what to expect so put all the blame on myself. So opted last year for RNY distal. I do think this will be successful for me. But one problem the docs found in my case is that not only was my pouch dynamic but so was the lower portion of my espophagus and it acted like a continuation of my stomach. So even though I am distal this time around, I do watch the portion size and the milk and sugar intake because my body is not going to tell me it won't tolerate it. We do what we have to do and use our WLS as a tool and our knowledge of everything else to help us succeed.
