Guest guest
, My philosophy on life changes...its never too late as long as we are still kickin'. I just finished graduate school at the age of 48. My sister in law just finished nursing school this past summer at 55. There is a time and a season for all things. GOOD LUCK to all of you who are undertaking new things in your life because you now have a future ahead of you that you might not have been able to see pre-WLS. Guest guest
Hi all! Just a note to let you know that I started LPN training in 1993 at 49 years old. I weighed 300 lbs at the time, and it was the hardest thing I ever went through, because of having to carry all that weight around. I would get so tired walking up and down the halls of the hospitals when I was at that point of doing my hospital internship. I used to go sit in the restroom and cry because I was so out of breath, and my BP was " sky-high " . I made it through, but like I said, it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. I'm so happy I have lost 110 pounds, and I can do my job with some skip in my step. I don't work in a hospital or a nursing home though. I travel in 5 different counties in the Seattle-Tacoma-Bremerton area as a nurse assessor for doing medical interviews. I love it and I set my own schedule and see my clients on my time. I do this full time or part time, whatever the need is at the time. It's great!! You will do great, and will have the energy to get through school now that you have lost the weight and are so much healthier. Bobbie Proximal RNY 2-15-00 starting weight: 290 present weight: 200 gained back 20 pounds, but I don't think that is too bad in almost 3 years. I am in the process of trying to get the weight loss started again. I have increased the Protein and decreased carbohydrates ( anything white). I am not even eating anykind of bread right now or potatoes or rice. Nothing, NADA!!
