Guest guest
Jill I recall that a Dr. Hua Lee at Indiana University was doing some research with human immune growth factor (igf) and wrote a research paper on that topic for one of the ataxia support groups. He seemed to theorize that the igf if introduced into the brain via a stem cell vector could possibly repair neurological damage such as that seen in ataxias. I corresponded with him by email a couple of times regarding my brother's MSA diagnosis which happened about the same his article appeared. He was applying for an NIH research grant, but I have not heard anything more about his research. Perhaps the fact that both researchers are interested in this topic might suggest that there is a good basis for the research. Regards, Jerry Cash Growth Hormone Tests A new trial is to begin at 's London hospital to investigate whether or not synthetic growth hormone has a useful effect with MSA patients. Do anyone have any thing to say about growth hormone and do you think should take part, bearing in mind he is still having terrible trouble coming to terms with his dx and thinks the medical profession do not care about him. Thanks JILL If you do not wish to belong to shydrager, you may unsubscribe by sending a blank email to shydrager-unsubscribe

Guest guest
Jill, If this is the trial I heard about recently from my neighbor, a physician who trained in South Africa and has a friend at a hospital in London, I think it's very worthwhile. My neighbor's friend has done some interesting work on Multiple Sclerosis and if he thinks this is worth trying I'd give it a shot. Guest guest
Gillian I`m so sorry is feeling so down and feels his Docs dont care .I hope he is on an anti -depressant.I spoke with DR Shults about his trial and he told me he had recently been in London and that the docs there are doing great work.I told him i would be going to London to get a second opinion and he highly recommended a Dr Neil Quinn .However when I was searching for a Specialist in the UK Dr Mathias was the only name I could find and so all my stuff -med tests etc have gone to him . Does see either of these Docs? Who is running The Trial? It would seem an opportunity not to be missed and perhaps he may even benefit .I presume it will take a few months to get my appointment organised andI will be staying with my brother in ST Asaph North Wales. If you think it would help I would Gladly visit you or talk on the phone Please know that you and are in my thoughts and prayers as is every one in this group.
