Guest guest
Good Morning, I had a proximal RNY 6-20-01. My surgeon only performed distals on 350# and above (I was at 321). He explained to me that the difference between the RNY prox & the RNY distal is that the distal does have more malabsorption. Not only of cals, fats, nutrients, etc., but of everything....sometimes a higher incidence of --well-- " malnutrition. " Does this mean that your friend has a " license to eat? " NOT! He stresses to both open & prox that it is up to US to retrain our old & our bad eating habits. It is up to us to form healthier choices. I will comment on this though, maybe her calorie count by skipping that next meal, levels her off to where it does not work against her. But...argh! Every day choice? When she starts to complain about the weight loss being way too slow, maybe you can gently suggest some healthier food choices to her? Just my two cents worth :-) Barb B, 321/145/145 maintenance :-) > > Good morning, > I have a question................... I presented the WLS option to a > friend > last year. She weighed 425.
