Barb,

Note that brain cells are conspicuously not mentioned in the article.

"Researchers at the University of Texas M.D. Cancer Center have

shown that stem cells that circulate in the bloodstream are capable of

growing into liver, gut and skin tissue."

They have also grown adult stem cells into certain blood cells and muscle

(including heart muscle cells). It is amazing to me that "intelligent"

people can carefully ignore this fact and make statements that things like

PD can be cured with adult stem cells with NO basis in fact for their statements.

Then those same people claim it is Christian (Christ-like) to execute

people "for the good of society" or fight wars "for the good of the world"

yet say NO, we can not kill afterbirth cells to save brain disorder patients.

That still does not compute to me. I have no problem with executions

(if we know the person is guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt) or wars (if

we know the country has attacked us) as good for society in general (and

Christ said leave unto Caesar that which is Caesar's) BUT then killing

a few thousand cells to save millions of people ought to be okay for the

same reason.

We do NOT want to "kill" the human cells, we want them to grow and be

transplanted "alive" into people to cure them. "Intelligent" moralists

also then tell us that scientists are going to grow and harvest "body parts"

for people. But in reality the only "body parts they want to grow

is specific cells NOT hearts, livers, etc. The cells will hopefully

(just as they did in mice) find the cells they need to replace and cure

the person just as they did in mice. Sorry, but common sence tells

me there is a difference between growing "body parts such as limbs, hearts,

livers, etc." and growing cells to repair the existing damaged organs,

muscle, etc. BUT under the BIG LIE concept, growing "body parts"

has more gore value and appeal to people who do not want to really think

about real moral issues.

What happened to abortion as an issue - seems to me there are STILL

over a million abortions per year in the USA (and millions of cells in

each abortion) according to abortion opponents - yet they are picking on

60,000 blastocysts (about 140 cells each) which MAY be able to save millions.

A million million is FAR more than "killing" 2.4 million cells which will

be destroyed anyway (since last August about 15,000 blastocysts (over 2.1

million cells) have been destroyed by exposing them to temperatures above

-140 degrees F.), because they are considered too old to use to make a

human any longer.

Canada and England have much better ideas with banning human cloning

and allowing the cloning of specific cells. Third world countries

are going full blast and hope to make money by hiring researchers who will

clone anything they pay them to clone. When there is a cure, how

many people will stay here in the USA to die if there is a cure in Singapore?

Something to think about, morality is a complex question which can not

be answered with simple answers. Especially when you bend words like

"kill" to fit your own little view of morality.

Take care, Bill

Thanks for sending the article. Jim's aunt goes to Huston every 3

months for lung cancer treatment and says it's the best hospital in the

world. The doctors gave her 30 days to live 7 years ago and she started

the treatment with MD . She's been known to drive back from

Huston after her chemo treatments because her husband is too tired. She

always says she feels better after her treatments. She is one strong

lady and a real character. They dubbed her one of their most prized

patients a few years ago because of her long survival with the type of

lung cancer she has.
