Beware of New Designer Whey Protein

I have been using Designer Whey Protein supplement, which I buy from GNC for

about a year. I have found it to be the most tolerable of the protein powders.

Last time I bought it, I thought the label had changed, but didn't pay much

attention. Now, I notice it says NEW! The World's FIRST TimeRelease Whey

Protein. TimeRelease? It says it can " deliver critical muscle-building

nitrogen quickly, effectively, and now continuously for up to 8 hours at a

time. " I am assuming that this wouldn't be of much help to us! I am hoping

when I go back, the original form will still be available, or I will be shopping

for a new protein supp!

Don't know if anyone else uses this product or has noticed the change, but I

guess we really do need to read those labels every time!!!

Protein you buy...make sure it's the ULTRA Pure Protein (that's what

is referring to - it's the one with the 35g of protein). <<<<

A big WHOOPS here -- The Ultra Pure Protein is what I USED to use -- a few

months ago the company sold and the formula on the Ultra Pure Pro has

changed (the protein changed) and it NO LONGER has ANY whey blend at all

rendering it, IMO, useless... they didn't change the label, they didn't put

NEW or IMPROVED or anything like that -- we lucked up on (VitaLady)

knowing the company had sold -- then, checking with my local supplier we

checked labels and found -- NO MORE WHEY protein -- no warning at all... one

shipment it was there and the next it was gone.

SO, the Pre-Mix protein I am referring to NOW is named " Pure Pro " Shake --

it is by ABB (not worldwide who sold-out to nurition I think) it is not as

thick or rich as the other used to be but it is still doable... I've gotten

used to it... it does have a whey blend -- 35 g protein, 0 sugars and only 4

carbs (the Ultra Pure Pro used to have 37 g protein and 6 carbs) The can is

" similar " but it is taller and thinner than the other can.

YES... do be careful about which one and IF they change the formula without

telling anyone!!! Every shipment I check the labels on now.

I just have always been told not to use " time-release " medications because they

are through our system before they finish " releasing " . Made sense to me, since

our pouches are small and have less intestine to travel through. I just assume

the same would apply to the protein or anything else.

Is this the Glycerlean? The original Designer (circa 1995) is no more.

There are several generations of New Improved Designer, all of which do not

impress me. I'm not a fan of the Glycerlean version, but you should still

be able to find the (most recent) original Designer.
