Guest guest
Verlene, Did Sheldon follow a specific medication protocol before they gave the Botox? Dan has been on epam, Klenopin(spelling ?) and now he's on Zanaflex. the first two meds caused mire harm than good. Dan has a traech and he can't tell me about the side effects. But I've noticed that he keeps his eyes shut all the time and he is unresponsive. I looked up Zanaflex and another symptom is drop in blood pressure. Does Sheldon have more mobility since he started his treatment? Thanks, Message: 19 Date: Thu, 18 Apr 2002 10:55:56 EDT From: moonglowsv@... Subject: Re: Questions about Botox Krista, The neurologist gives my husband, Sheldon, Botox shots for back and neck spasms. The needle is very small and painless. He gets the shots all over his back and neck area, many shots. The first time he received them they were not effective. She has increased the dosage and they seem to help more. The effect of the Botox wears off in about three months and then your mother would have to receive more shots. The neurologist said that eventually the body will build up an immunity to the shots and they will no longer be effective. It is worth a try for your mother. It may help her to be more comfortable. Love and gentle hugs, Verlene
Guest guest
Hi , We have not decided about the botox yet. Dr. H is a little concerned about Tommy's calf muscle being small and fibrotic...oh great another thing for me to worry about. He said he would want to do an MRI before trying Botox. How long after the first tenotomy did have the second one? How long are you supposed to wait? When are you going to see Dr. H? > Hello everyone. I know we broached this subject a while back but i just got a response back from Dr H about 's toe standing.. He's recommended botox & casting to avoid surgery or repeat tenotomy.. I don't recall anyone doing this in this group.. Or is there someone?? what have you decided ? > > Thanks > >
Guest guest
Hi , How did dr. H say the botox would work in fixing his toe standing? They use botox as part of treatment for club foot at Childrens Hospital in Vancouver...not sure how they use it exactally as we went with Ponseti method. & Grace ) > Hello everyone. Guest guest
had his first tenotomies at 4 months then the second set, I think at 9 months.. so 5 months later... I don't know if there is a waiting time or not... That's just the way it happened... I haven't scheduled anything with Dr H yet.. I'm going to send some pics to Dr Ponseti and see what he recommends before I commit to this.. Actually I think that maybe 1 or 2 casts would take care of 's toe standing because he can flatten it any time he wants.. Maybe I'll tell Dr H to try the casting first and if that doesn't work then botox can be our last resort.. But I'll find out from Ponseti what he thinks first.. Guest guest
He really didn't give me any indepth information... this is what he wrote... Hello Ms Sterling Peek: Thanks for the update and the good news. One option we can consider would be to Botox followed by casting for the recaocitrant side. This would be an alternative to surgery or repeat tenotomy. Herzenberg MD Short and to the point.. Re: Botox Hi , How did dr. H say the botox would work in fixing his toe standing?
