We've seen several people revise from proximal rny to distal rny and do very

well. One is losing as if it was her first surgery, over 100# since Nov!

Wow. Others are coming along nicely.

It is possible to be successful after revision. Part of the success is pouch

construction, as well as intestinal arrangement, not to mention the post-op

nutrition program.

It's not hopeless. There are a million variations between WAY too proximal

and WAY too distal.

If a person still has health issues, even if it's painful bones or feet, not

feeling happy about one's weight is OK, too. Never mind the numbers, but

it's all about how I feel. Do my hips ache? Can I bend? Can I walk without

being winded in just a driveway length? Those things are all criteria for

me. I don't at exactly WHICH number on the scale each little notch is taken

out of my life, but I really do not want to find out again. I only weigh

every few months, but go by how my clothes fit.

I feel threatened by anything that would steal my good health & return me to

the dying basket case I was in 1994.

Hi, Connie and all,

I am another who virtually stopped losing weight after about six months, and

was very discouraged, especially after hearing that the honeymoon period was

supposed to be anywhere from 6-18 months. I was pleased to have lost 100

pounds, but still needed to lose another 50 or 60 pounds. I heard people

talking about using protein shakes to restart the weight loss and get down

to goal weight, as well as to maintain when many others regain. So, I

started using the protein drinks about 10 days ago, and have lost 12

pounds!! Seem to be back on a roll again... I am not sure if it is the

shakes or if it was just that my body finally caught up with the loss and

was ready to start again, but whatever it is, I am going to continue with

the shakes. There is a support group list that addresses the use of

shakes....I highly recommend that you check it out! Good luck to you!

The address of the list is: OSSG-Protein

Best wishes!

Marilyn,

Congrats on your weight loss. I too lost about 100 pounds and have about 50

or 60 to go. When you do the protein shakes are you eating also? I am

curious about your diet. Would love to hear about it!

Marilyn is writing my story! LOL!

Weightloss stopped for me at 6 months also. (I was eating 120gms of

food protein per day and hair was still coming out by the wads and

carb cravings were raging!!) NO WEIGHTLOSS until 10 months post op

when I began drinking the shakes. After 10 days of doing 3 shakes a

day consistantly, **VOILA* 13 lbs gone. I am now 16 months post op

and sitting at goal *134lbs*. That's about a 40-45 lb weightloss

after starting the shakes consistantly. I say consistantly, because

I was " playing around " with the shakes for a couple of months ..1

shake here, 2 shakes there..before I really found out the benefits of

the shakes.

If you are still a doubter about the benefits of Shake

supplementation, Check out the OSSG-Protein site. 1035 members strong

and seeing much success!

Just FYI..

Much love,

Shelby

,

Actually, I do 2 meals per day and one snack plus 5 Shakes per day

now. I noticed that 3 did fine for a while, but I needed to up them a

bit. I have been drinking 5 shakes per day for about 5 months now,

and it seems to be the right amount for me. (But I Don't do fruit or

milk or any other high carb/sugar stuff in mine..just mho) I

honestly think that 3 is the minimum for most RNYers.(not sure what

type surgery you had). I recently posted my regimen at the OSSG-

Protein site. You can read it there, or I'd be happy to email it to

you privately..Don't want to bore folks with my redundancy. :OP

Much love,

Shelby

Are you eating three meals a day AND three shakes? How do you space

them in conjunction with your meals? I add crushed ice, milk and

sometimes a banana. They are so filling I don't know if I can eat

too if I'm trying to down three/day.
