Hello all,

I need clarification of SLD...I was told my the PA that works with my

doctor that I could not have a staple line disruption because they only

not only stapled they transected the stomach...is this true...does

anyone know? Thanks

I was lucky enough to be able to have my stomach transection done lap

after

an open RNY. It was so much easier, not just because I didn't have

another

big incision, but because we already know there's life after WLS. We

know

what & how to eat & drink, you know, been there, done that. I spent

hours at

the mall the day after I got home from the hospital. How's that for a

fast

recovery? LOL

Good luck,

Hello Baron and welcome back!

I used to read your posts on this list and one other one also. That was

before and shortly after my surgery 15 months ago. You are an

inspiration as always. I know that I have to have an attitude of

gratitude and thank God for each day I am blessed to be here. Thanks

for your words of wisdom.

In theory, no. It is very remotely possible that the two stomachs can find

each other, reunite in a tiny spot, forming a " bridge " between the two.

Called a fistula. Rare. But I'll let those here who have first hand

knowledge speak of them, as I do not.

The SLD that could occur immediately after surgery is a different matter all

together, a post-op " leak " , so that does not pertain to our discussion about

your average SLD that we're discussing here.

Reggie,

I think its you...the only reason I sent you that link was so you

could relate on a man's level...I can't imagine having a disease that mostly

occurs in women and live in a mans world...So I thought the being a man it

would be helpful to hear what other men are going through with the same

disease. IT WASN'T TO OUST YOU OUT OF THIS GROUP!!!! I was just trying to be

helpful. I also supported your idea that you had also. I think you analyze

thinks a little too much. I have seen several people reply to your emails and

posts. Just take a chill pill and eat a piece of cheese man. :o)~~~

NO one is trying to get you out of this group....Just like I said before

we're all busy with our own lil' things and some of us just don't feel good

on certain days and then some of us...get sooo many emails we just delete

em....lol So don't take it soo personal. Ok....

As a man in this group I can't help feeling like this

is mostly a womens forum. I try to post information

based on my medical experience and long term history

with CFS but it's as if there is little interest. I do

notice however that there seems to be much more

exchange between the women. I was sent a link for a

group for men with CFS, in my view thses groups nac be

helpful but can also segment people by gender, age,

etc ... Is it me or am I getting a cold shoulder to

make me leave this group to remain a mainly women's

forum?

Reggie,

I for one do not want you to leave the group. The information that you

can provide for us is invaluable. I can understand what you are saying and

I can understand how you feel that way.

Dana

Keep posting your knowledge, I am not much of a chit-chatter but I can

learn.

I will have to jump in here. I don't think anyone can analyze this illness too

much. There are many posts on this list that are not based on scientific fact

and that just perpetuates " old wives tales. " We need facts on this list and I

for one feel that Reggie can certainly provide us with valued information.

-Reggie, sorry I am a little late responding to your message but I

have been trying to quit smoking the past week and can say I am doing

pretty good. We also had a death in the family this week so I have

been busy. Also the computer is a big smoking trigger for me but

anyway I find your messages very informative and really appreciate

them. Dont be offended, have you lived with one woman? Well there are

a bunch here in pain!! You are welcome here and please keep up the

good info coming in.
