Guest guest Posted September 11, 2002 Report Share Posted September 11, 2002 I finally got results of the extra tests I've been requesting for months (some of the vitamins, parathormone, zinc, etc). Following are my results for all labs from pre-op (8/24/01) thru the present. All comments, warnings, advice, explanations, invited and welcomed and appreciated, as I don't know really know the significance of much of any of this. I do know my B6 is high and will immediately stop the B100 complex and take just B12 alone. I would particularly appreciate knowing if it's good to be near the upper or lower reference range, or if just in the middle is good. I understand sometimes optimal is closer to one end or the other. If anyone notices any trends I should keep watch on, (like for instance, it seems a number of values are decreasing in the hemogram; is this good or bad?) (ditto the TSH going up; GGTP going down) please speak up. Also, if you know what the abbreviations stand for, esp in the hemogram. Why is BUN/Creatinine ratio going up; last 2 tests it's above normal, but both my pcp and surgeon say don't worry about it, it's just a calculation and not important as long as BUN and creatinine separately are within normal ranges. If it's unimportant, why is it part of the chem screen? Many thanx, Carol A Result Name Dates of tests 8/02 4/02 12/01 8/01 Ref range Result Name Result Values CBC w/Differential, Platelets Hemogram (new reference ranges effective as of 6/3/02 WBC 6.5 8.15 9.01 8.56 3.8 - 10.8 RBC 3.84 4.52 4.53 4.39 3.80 - 5.10 Hemoglobin 12.9 14.3 13.6 13.7 11.7 - 15.5 Hematocrit 36.4 41.7 40.7 40.6 35.0 - 45.0 MCV 94.9 92.3 89.8 92.5 80.0 - 100.0 MCH 33.7 31.6 30.0 31.2 27.0 - 33.0 MCHC 35.5 34.3 33.4 33.7 32.0 - 36.0 RDW 12.5 13.7 13.7 13.3 11.0 - 15.0 MPV 8.9 10.8 10.6 10.8 7.5 - 11.5 Platelets 166 227 229 303 128 - 358 Automated Differential ** %Neutrophils !! 54.9 61.1 66.2 53.8 34.4 - 87.7 %Lymphocytes 32.7 28.3 17.7 31.3 6.1 - 48.6 %Monocytes 7.3 6.4 6.7 8.3 2.9 - 10.9 %Eosinophils 4.6 9.2 4.0 6.2 0 - 7.4 %Basophils 0.5 0.2 0.2 0.4 0 - 1.2 Neutrophils, (1) 3659 1500 - 7800 Lymphocytes (2) 2126 850 - 3900 Monocytes (2) 475 200 - 950 Eosinophils (2) 299 50 - 550 Basophils (2) 33 0 - 200 Hyperthyroid Panel II (54262A) TSH )( 2.19 1.6 0.81 0.40 - 5.50 T4, total 8.0 8.7 9.8 4.5 - 12.5 FTI (CFT4) 2.6 (3) 1.6 - 3.7 T3, total 102 60 - 181 T3, uptake 32.5 27.8 - 40.7 Lipid Panel (included in 745F) Cholesterol 111 128 129 191 < 200 HDL 30 29 23 > 39 LDL 60 73 74 < 130 HDL/LDL ratio 3.7 < 5.0 Triglycerides 104 131 162 267 < 150 Chem Screen (745F) LDH 163 404 423 100 - 250 GGTP 9 15 18 37 2 - 60 Phosphorus 3.3 3.9 3.4 2.5 - 4.5 Uric Acid 3.1 3.5 3.5 1.7 - 7.5 HbA1c 5 .0 5.8 5.5 4.4 - 6.0 Glucose 91 131 160 169 65 - 109 PBG (&&) 0.85 < 1.2 BUN 18 17 14 12 7 - 35 Creatinine 0.6 0.6 0.4 0.7 0.5 - 1.2 BUN/Creat 30 28 23 17 6 - 25 Sodium 142 141 141 143 135 - 146 Potassium 4.0 4.1 3.9 4.5 3.5 - 5.3 Chloride 107 106 106 105 98 - 110 Carbon Dioxide 26 27 28 27 21 - 33 Anion GAP }{ 8 7 5 - 14 Calcium 9.3 9.3 8.9 9.5 8.5 - 10.4 Protein, total 6.3 6.4 6.5 7.2 6.0 - 8.3 Albumin 4.1 3.5 3.3 4.0 3.5 - 4.9 Globulin, calc'd 2.2 2.2 - 4.2 A/G Ratio 1.9 1.2 1.1 1.3 0.8 - 2.0 AST (SGOT) 18 19 11 15 2 - 35 ALT (SGPT) 19 38 18 21 2 - 40 Alk Phos@@ 69 96 77 66 20 - 125 Bilirubin, total 0.6 0.4 0.2 0.3 0.2 - 1.5 Bilirubin, direct 0.1 0.1 0.1 0.0 - 0.4 Iron, serum 118 85 74 37 - 170 TIBC 278 250 - 400 TPS (7) 42 15 - 50 Individual tests Ferritin 81 (22764R) 20 - 288 Magnesium 1.8 (26013E) 1.5-2.5 Copper, plasma 142 (56317W) (4) 70 - 155 Zinc, serum 92 (57638W) (5) 50 - 160 Vit A 44 (29231P) 38 - 98 Carotene, serum 27 (9) 6 - 77 Vit D, 25-hydroxy 34 (19893P) 10 - 68 Vit B1 34 (29991P) 9 - 44 Vit B6 51.0 (29009P) 3.3 - 26.0 Vit B12, serum 414 (30304P) 200 - 1100 B12, bindg cap'y 986 (6) 650 - 1340 Folate, serum >24 (22848W) (normal: >5.4; borderline: 3.4-5.4; deficient: <3.4) Folate, RBC 831 > 280 EFA's ## 0.69 (22749P) 0.09 - 0.82 Parathormone (1222A) Calcium 9.6 (8) 8.5 - 10.4 (8) Intact 26 10 - 65 Notes: !! = same thing as what ian lab calls " gran " @@ keep a watch; numbers going up can signal Vit D defic'y )( = it's optimal if this stays near low end of range (&&) = fasting blood glucose ** Quest shows no ref ranges for the % items; the ones shown are from ian ## = fatty acids, free (is that the same as essential fatty acids?) }{ = this is a calculation that ian makes, but Quest does not (1) = segmented neutrophils, absolute (2) = all these are " absolute " (3) = free thyroxin index (calculated free T4) (4) this test # is for serum; for some reason the results came back plasma (5) this test # is for serum; results showed no designation other than " zinc " (6) this is test # 55111A (deficiency?)
