Guest guest
I just have to share this sweet story of hope for our country. My sister is an elementary school principal in a small town in central Texas. The school has grades from Pre-K to third grade. Yesterday was Proud to be American Day in their school. Sister said they wanted to emphasize patriotism on this special day but downplay violence. They planned a moment of silence to commemorate 9/11. When she spoke to the students over the intercom, she explained that a year ago some people destroyed two very important building in America. These people thought this would make us ashamed to be Americans. She went on to tell them that instead of being ashamed, this act made us more proud to be Americans and brought our people closer together and that was the purpose of the moment of silence. To close after the moment, she played Lee Greenwood's song " I'm Proud to be an American " . An aide came to her later to tell her what had occurred in her classroom. The children were all in their seats as the song began. When the song reached the moving part " And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today " , all of the children (without any prompting from their teacher) rose out of their seats and stood at attention for the rest of the song. I was so proud to hear that story. This is our future of American patriots. I'd say we are in good hands. ===== judy in austin 5'9 " of wild Texas redhead SRVG 5/99 380 lbs Ext.
