Guest guest
Thank you so very much. I need all the input possible at this point. I do think that he doesn't need an actual hospital bed at this time, but will be sure the doctor prescribes one before we have an adjustable bed delivered. He wants to sleep "normally" - with me at his side (I realize this may not always be possible). Hopefully, some of the cost will be covered. I will want a rail on his side of his bed to help him get in and out, and an apparatus to hold a catheter bag, so need to find such things quickly. At the Rehabilitation Center they have him just wearing a Depend-type garment during the day and a condom catheter at night. I'm sure we contributed to his UTI (just before his heart attack) by having a condom catheter on day and night - he's not incontinent, so with someone with him at all times, hopefully, he will be able to go without the catheter during the day. He is the one that decided to have the catheter at all times, (once we figured out how to keep the darn thing on, thanks to this gourp) as it was so much easier than having accidents/urinating all over the bathroom floor! Gosh, what a lot to have to organize/accomplish in a week's time!! Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again Elaine Grimmesey
Guest guest
Elaine: If you can get a hospital bed now, get it. You can put it right next to yours with the rail down between you, and you can adjust the level to be the same as yours. it will come with rails, and it will be free from Medicare. We put off the hospital bed for a long time, and if I had it to do over, I would get it sooner. Love, Barbara
Guest guest
Elaine, The hospital bed has made a huge difference in helping to care for my dad. He has a superpole right next to it. He can actually stand up holding on to that pole. Having the bed adjustable really helps. Ours came so quickly, a day after it was ordered, they delivered it. Hope everything goes well.
