Guest guest
-Marilyn- This just happened to us,too! I thought for sure my daughter would have yeast but she showed bacteria and no yeast. It wasn't very high as a high I guess but she is taking one Culturelle a day. How did you get recommended for GSE? Was that on your form also? Ours just said a probiotic which my dr agreed with-although I think he would prefer she take an antibiotic also. I think we saw what you would call die off. My daughter never had loose stools either before or after starting the culturelle. She did start to have some moody behavior the first week-grumpy and teary-then she got very lethargic and pasty looking. Little appetite for about a week. Now she is really springing back and happy and has a much, much improved appetite. She actually asked for tossed salad with her spaghetti the other night and usually I have to beg her to eat her vegetables :-) We did have a constipation problem for the first time and I don't know if its related or not. It may be because while her stomach was queasy in the first couple of weeks she ate mostly " pasty " foods. She has no problem taking the Culturelle at all-I put it in juice along with her enzymes and it has no taste. Let me know about the GSE. I am curious because I remember asking Dana pretesting if I could just try giving my daughter GSE and she said not to because if she had a bacteria and not a yeast problem-which it turned out she did-that the GSE could aggrevate a bacteria problem. Thanks!! Good luck-I'd love to hear back how your son does. -- In @y..., " marilyn ward " <marilynward@a...> wrote: > My son's organic acid test revealed a high level of bacteria. GSE kills yeast and the absence of yeast will allow bad bacteria to overgrow, at least that is what happened for my family. I don't recommend GSE if it is a bacteria problem. http://www.autismchannel.net/dana/yeast.htm Dana
Guest guest
-How long do these kids need to take Culturelle? I don't know the answer to this but I don't intend to stop it anytime soon!! I am going to also give it to my infant son before I ever let him have antibiotics. FYI after I initially ordered the Culturelle from their website I got my pharmacist to order it in and saved myself $7.00. -The recommendation for GSE came from Great Plains Labs Interesting. I would definitely think about that one. If your son doesn't have a yeast overgrowth I belive it would cut back the normal yeast amount too much thus leaving him vulnerable to the bacteria. - In @y..., " marilyn ward " <marilynward@a...> wrote: > : > Thanks for the info. Guest guest
My younger son had bacteria overgrowth and we did the Culturelle. It helped noticeably. Great Plains said Culturelle was THE ONE for bacteria. He felt a little " sicker " for a couple days but then felt much better. He was a bit more lethargic, headaches, blah all over, lower appetite...I think that is his standard " die-off " reaction. I now give the 20 billion strength capsules...but to save money, I give one every other day since once you get the strains " established " they can last well up to a week. www.vrp.com has it on sale 20% every 3 months (20 billion strength), and www.vitacost.com has it discounted about that much all the time. I might try having our pharmacist order it though and see if we get such a discount. Culturelle comes in 10 or 20 billion strength sizes so make sure you know which you are getting. .
