Children in later years

I'm hoping that my kids don't wait as long as we did to have kids. I'll

be 40 in January and have a 9 1/2 year old and 6 year old. My friend who

is two years older than I am has a 21 year old and 18 year old. Truly

amazing stuff. Her daughter just got engaged and will marry next year

and the very real possibility of grand children in her mid to late 40's

is mind blowing. My kids will be teenagers. Had my parents lived they

would have been young grandparents and would have been able to enjoy my

kids. My mom would now be 63 and my father would be 66. My husband's

parents are well into their 70's right now and though healthy, could

care less that they have grandchildren.

So here's to all of you out there that are a bit older with little ones

of your own, step kids, grandchildren, etc.. Enjoy them every day as

each child is a gift no matter what age you are. As for the kids keeping

you young, I'm not so sure about that right now. All I do is run with

them and do homework, etc. it's exhausting and am finding more gray

hairs than there were last year, but underneath the exhaustion,

frustratrion and two toned hair, enjoying them immensely when I get the

rare chance to sit back and think about it.

Have truly enjoyed all the stories of having little ones and

grandchildren to boot. Must be a lot of fun.
