Guest guest
Dear Noreen: Sorry to hear of your Mom's diagnosis. It is my husband Bob who has shy-drager. I attend the meetings in Lexington. They are very helpful. The national meeting will be in Boston at the Holiday Inn at the Airport - May 3, 4, and 5th. I plan to only attend on Saturday the 4th. I have not confirmed yet because I have to make arrangements for care for my Mom and Bob. Bob is 75 and my Mom is 97. She is in good health and only needs a little assistance with dressing and getting around. Bob was first diagnosed with PD and then about 5 years ago with shy-drager. He is wheelchair bound, his voice comes and goes and cannot walk more than 10 steps and then with a lot of assistance. I thought of taking him to the national meeting but unless he improves I think it would be too difficult and he does not want to attend. He was such an active person - so full of life - always doing projects - singing and playing music and taking up all kinds of hobbies and travel. Carol and Rob Langer run the group out of Lexington and I find it very helpful and good to get together with other people facing the same challenges. One couple comes up from Connecticut and I think they see a Neurologist at UMass. I do not know of a group in Central Massachusetts. Off hand I don't have the list of people who attended but if you contact Carol through the group she could tell you more. Sorry you have to be here. Sincerely, Pat from Framingham
