Guest guest
Nope, I've never heard of this " theory. " Where did you hear of it? And NO, I don't agree that WLS can cause pretty pervasive distress in " almost anyone. " That's a really big and fantastic leap, IMHO. WLS changed my life in a dramatic and positive way. I've eliminated many medications. I had panic/anxiety before WLS and haven't had it at all since my surgery 4-1/2 years ago. Being able to breathe helps in that regard a tremendous amount. So, I guess the theory for me would be it causes an improvement in the quality of life for most and reduces stress. Seriously, where *did* you hear this? Guest guest
Actually, I read it in a text-book in the medical library where I work. I claimed that " ...the loss and grieving of a former lifestyle and/or eating habits caused symptoms of PTSD in a significant number of Gastric Restrictive Procedure group participants... " A significant number? What percentage would that be? 10 out of 100? 50 out of 100? I guess we need a definition of " significant, " eh? Guest guest
Well, that's what I get for reading without glasses. My comment earlier on PTSD refers to the misery of being Morbidly Obese for all those years, and not the aftermath of surgery at all.
