Guest guest
If anyone has been following ' progress, I spoke with him today. (I'm in Illinois, he's in Texas). He had open RNY in 2000, was dropped by 2 nurses, and his incision ripped open. Spent 96 days in the hospital at that time, and the wound had to close by itself rather than be stitched re-closed. Of course, he developed hernias, but they could not be repaired till he'd lost some weight (starting was 658 lbs). He has had his hernia repair now, and panniculectomy, but has had several complications, the latest of which is a staph infection that is resistant to antibiotic treatment. Today is his 60th day in Kindred Hospital in Houston. They are thinking that maybe he can possibly, finally, go home this coming week. Needless to say, he's not opting for any more surgery " for awhile " as he put it, even tho he'd like some reconstructives. If anyone would like to email or call him, u can get addy/phone nbrs from me. (I don't know personally; I was just so struck by his story when I read about it online here some time ago, I HAD to find out how he's doing). I'm sure he'd be happy to chat with anyone who's interested. Regards, Carol A
