Guest guest
That's a good thought if you are thinking in terms of fats and calories...but DO think extensive in terms of your protein and vites. Whether distal or proximal, all of us RNYer's have lost the duodenum, and thus malabsorb most of these thing rather extensively. Would be nice to think that since the surgery might be a short proximal, we don't need to worry as much, it comes down to the issue, we must all supplement...it's just a matter of to what degree. We must ALL watch our labs...and let them guide us. I'm pretty sure I understood your post Les, but for those who did not...I'm separating out what you absorb and what you don't as a proximal. Sugar you can absorb through osmosis through your fingertips..me thinks sometimes...but vitamins and protein barely give the system a wave on the way by. Regards~ Jacque > > , I totally agree. Again, YMMV. > >
Guest guest
Hi Hiedi, I'm very sorry to hear this. You help so many here and I sure hope someone can help you. I was wondering if you were ever diagnosed as diabetic? If not I hope they test your glucose soon. Before I was diagnosed as diabetic I lost a lot of weight and ate like a horse. Also I never noticed if you take enzymes. I have to take 5 pancrease with each meal and before bed. Hope you get stabelized soon. Your pancreatically challenged brother, lol Ed Kline it's gone the next day.
