I am 41 and our adoption will be final December 2nd -- our daughter is 5

now, I'll be 42 and my husband is 63 -- we are not too old to parent this

child because we have the strong desire to do so. We didn't " plan " it but we

are blessed with it (being parents again) -- had this opportunity come to me

before I married my current husband I'd have still taken this child, adopted

her and brought her into my life as a single mother, at my age, juggling a

job, home, child, school and (no, I am not super woman) I get tired... some

times I think about the energy I had with my first 2 when I was in my 20's

but I would NOT exchange that energy (I got tired then too) for the wisdom I

have now.

It takes a great deal to commit to a child at any age and under all

circumstances -- it is an individual choice each of us makes... their just

isn't a right or wrong answer (well, it would be wrong to have a child you

didn't want) but ya' know what I mean.

If anyone wants to talk about parenting at our age I urge you to e-mail

me -- it is not all roses, it comes with the thorns (just like everything in

life) and IMO it is as personal a choice as we made when we decided to have

this surgery -- it is a life long choice (while our life partners, husbands

and wives may " divorce " children are our children for life...)

I know we have some birth mothers on this list as well... and to you I just

want to say " bless you " and " thank you " you are incredibly strong and

beautiful women too.
