Guest guest
I know if we overeat fat a lot, we get slicks and it doesn't all get absorbed. Certainly we must absorb some. What else would explain my fabulous-looking healthy skin???? ;-) I'd like to start taking some of the omega 3 fatty acids which are all in oil-filled capsule form. Any ideas on how to ensure absorption? The lady at the health food story said apple juice or any non-acidic juice, but I ain't drinking apple juice every day. Thanks,
Guest guest
Hello. This isn't exactly in response to your post, but here's some stuff I know about Omega 3 fatty acids and want to share them. Omega 3 fatty acids and Omega 6 fatty help us in lots of ways. Many people have heard about heart-health and these substances, but they also support our immune system. (This is real science. I read about it when doing research for a petfood company. More Omega 3 means less infection. Really. Check your dogfood bag!) Omega 3 fatty acids are found in fatty fish, like salmon. In fact, some people say " why take the supplements? " Just eat salmon. Eating something in its natural form may help with absorption, or so some people think. Omega 6 fatty acids are good for us, too. They're found in flax seed oil. Flax seed oil is also a good source of Omega 3 fatty acids, btw. Some people don't like the after taste they get with salmon oil, and they prefer Flax seed oil. Of course, vegetarians also have issues with salmon oil. Omega 3 fatty acids affect clotting in a way I don't exactly understand. If someone has a clotting disorder, I suggest they talk to someone much smarter than me before taking the supplements. I think it makes you clot less. Salmon is a predator. When you eat salmon, or its oil, you're eating from the top of the food chain. Some people are concerned that salmon oil may be contain contaminants from the ocean. I guess they mean mercury? I dunno. Anyway, some people suggest pharmaceutical grade salmon oil rather than other kinds. Me, I figure I'm not having any babies and I've done lots worse to my body than eating salmon. Anyway, I think the third eye growing in the upper right corner of my forehead is kind of attractive, anyway. Hard to believe I'm this damn smart and unemployed, isn't it? Guest guest
, I purchase a liquid form (orange-flavored) of Omega-3 Fatty Acids made by TwinLabs and take two tablespoons a day. I will warn you, however, that it tastes like orange for about one second and then there is the salmon aftertaste so have something else ready to knock back. I could not find capsules small enough to fit through my stoma, so this liquid works great. I also found dry Vitamin E, which is in capsule form and I empty the capsules into my protein shake every morning. I live in a medium-size midwestern city but could not find the Omega-3 or vitamin E in any local stores. I bought them at www.mothernature.com. The price was good and the service excellent. Thank you for all your posts. I hope this helps. Guest guest
Have you tried Coromega? It's an orange flavored thick liquid and it doesn't taste nasty at all. Comes in one serving little packets that you can just suck right out of the packet. Not bad at all-no fishy after taste. I got mine from Vitalady but I think that they are at health food stores as well or you can check out their web site at www.coromega.com.
