Guest guest
Dodie, I recently mentioned coat hanger pain in response to some postings from folks who were discussing neck pain. I recall having read this term as it was used in some articles on MSA to describe pain associated with blood presssure. I think they use this term because if you place a coat hanger on your back, the pain is apparently in the area covered by the coat hanger. Hope this helps. Jerry Cash legs/speech Someone mentioned 'coat hanger' pain, what did they mean? I can tell when my b/p is dropping by the pain across my shoulder blades. I figured out my leg problems were from blood pooling from being in the w/c too much, not elevating my legs often enough, high enough or long enough. My PCP confirmed it and pushed for support hose. Finally found some hose I can tolerate and figured out more ways to elevate those legs. We looked at lift chairs and the woman asked if was getting my w/c through Medicare (won't help with a lift chair since they are paying for the w/c), so if I known, I could have gotten a lift chair first then gotten a w/c and Medicare would help on both. Weird rules. I had about six speech therapy sessions and they were informative, yet I'm really getting bad, practice and all. It's discouraging. On a lighter note, Bill, you mentioned going to the movies being $6. We have an old theatre here downtown that runs new features after they've been to the complex for $2. The aisles are wide and I can park my w/c almost anywhere. We have a 75 year old theatre that has been redone that is beautiful. It's for live performances, though.
