I can finally post to this site.

Today is my 1 year aniversary of Open RNY surgery at Kaiser Hospital

(Sunnyside in Portland, Oregon)

My highest weight (July 2001) was 337. I weighed 316 the day of

surgery and I now weigh 182. My size 14 pants are getting baggy,

unbelievably. A year ago I wore a 28/5x

I went for a hike Sunday, up and down hills in a forest for 2 1/2

hours without stopping...that would have been impossible a year ago,

Sunday I was able to do that, and after only an hour rest, I made

dinner and cleaned house and still had some energy in the evening to

visit with my family.

I am wallowing in a sea of miracles everyday. But, for me, it hasn't

only been the surgery. I decided early on that I needed to heal my

body, mind and spirit. So, I go to counseling, became a member of AA

and Overeaters Anonymous, do daily prayer and meditation, and

EXERCISE every day...in addition to having had the surgery.

So far, I am doing well. I feel good, am learning to deal with my

occasional compulsions to eat, and I am building my confidence daily

that I will have the necessary tools and habits in place to maintain

my weight loss. I still have days of fear, but I am learning...I am

a work in progress, not perfection as they say in OA/AA.

Anyway, so happy to be here. I have learned a great deal about this

WLS journey from this list. A few of you ... at least a few I know

lurk in the shadows.. I have met.

Its good to be among the graduates.

If you want to email me privately at anytime, my email address is
