Darlene,

I agree with all that you said. I did notice that you seem to be

relying on blood tests to determine the adequacy of you calcium intake.

Please do not do this. Only 1% of the body's calcium is in the blood

stream. When the blood runs low in calcium, it takes some from the

bones. You blood calcium might be fine, but your bone calcium may have

decreased by 1%. These 1% decreases add up over time. The best way to

measure the adequacy of your calcium intake is by having a bone density

scan, or Dexascan. I would urge you to have one done as soon as

possible to establish a current base line. Have it done a year later to

see if there has been any change. Also, please switch from Tums to a

calcium citrate product like CITRACAL® or one of the generic brands sold

at WalMart and WalGreen.
