Guest guest
Yo, another experienced " swallowing/suctioning " tube feeder here. When " feeding, liquid offering, suctioning " adds another 8 hours to your 14 hour day or you MUST hire someone to sit bedside with 1 ounce swallows trickingly tossed past an uncooperating uvula and/or thickened uncontrollable tongue, THEN if life is to continue the un - natural insertion of G-tube or IV may allow years of survival. I must choose everything for demented, mute husband Jan and selected the above the belt position from among 3 offered. The older permanent tube has since been replaced by Foley catheter- like once a month insertions by Home Health nurse. Stoma, dressed daily, was made under general anesthetic about 3 years ago. We cannot depend on therapist visits here. Believing that a mind was supplied for use, I do not regret feeding tube installation to prolong the restricted but enjoyed quality of life Jan would have chosen for himself. LA Louise in COLD Springhill waiting for tonight's 15* temp toarrive on a howling north wind.
