Guest guest
, Peg and I have no experience with Costa Rica although we have some State Department friends in Virginia who have been stationed there. They throught very highly of the place. It had the best and most stable government for the area and they said it was very beautiful. However there is another consideration about being in a place like that. How far would you be from contact with a real Parkinsons / MSA expert? Only by coincidence do we have access to people who have experience with Peg's disease. Even then we still prefer to have Peg examined once a year by an expert when we come back to the States. That helps ensure we are up on the latest treatments as they may apply to Peg and the specifics of her condition. In several instances this had made an important difference in Peg's care. Now it is becoming more difficult for Peg to travel. We fear that we may become locked on Guam because of Peg's growing difficulties. This is made more complicated in that the hospital on Guam is marginal. It provides a fairly full range of services but it does not currently have USA accreditation and they are having trouble keeping good nurses. My guess is that Costa Rica would have access to better medical care overall but you still need to ask the question about services for MSA patients and the need to travel back and forth to the States. Peg and Jim from Guam PS I recently had to make a quick trip to Farminton, NM. Too bad I didn't have time to give you a call. ******************************** *** Peg & Jim *** # 29 Cruz Heights *** Ipan-Talofofo, Guam 96930-4736 *** USA *** *** Note: Guam is 15 hours ahead of *** Eastern Standard Time (EST). *** 14 ahead of EDT. ********************************
