self-cathing and infection

Hi Folks

I've been self-cathing for about 6 years. I would test poitive for

bacteria, begin a round of anibiotics, test negative, complete that

round of antibiotics, test positive again after an increasing shorter

interval and then begin a new round of antibiotics.

To avoid this scenario my urologist (Rovner,UPenn) recommended

methenamine + vitamin c. Methenamine is termed an antiinfective. It

along with the vitamin c lowers the urine pH and forms formaldehyde

effectively sterilizing the bladder. I've tried it for 2 months and

have had zero infectios. Ask your doctor.

Steve
