I have gotten some really great pieces of information about hypoglycemia from

many of y'all. Let me elaborate:

I just started the Ensure crap not even 4 days ago, but I hear everyone... dump

it (gonna take it back to the store).

I decided to go to a PCP this morning and beg for an endocrinologist appointment

(we have Kaiser) and what I got was a very knowledgable woman who called and

talked to an endo on the phone for a few (with me there) and together they

ordered a buttload of blood tests (including liver panel, HgbA1C, thyroid panel,

CBC, and more) and are bringing me back next week to see my regualr PCP and they

will, in the meantime, research and see what they can come up with after seeing

my labs. They will also consult with my surgeon.

The preliminary thought, however, is that because of my previous severe history

of insulin resistance and my bouts of hypoglycemia throughout the entire WLS

experience and its severity now, that my pancreas just continues pumping out

copious amounts of insulin thinking I am still fat... therefore, eating my fat.

The docs suggested I go to my surgeon's office and weigh on the Tanita scale

they have (that measures body composition)... something I already had in mind.

So, after my blood letting, I went to my surgeon's office and discovered that,

in the last 3 months, I have lost 3% body fat. I am now 22% fat. Doing

absolutely zero formal exercise. Eating 2500 calories a day (sometimes more!).

Now, I am REALLY scared. In fact, I was probably the only person I found that

never regretted their WLS... not even for a second... yet, last night, as I sat

recovering from my horrific day, I wondered if I might die from this... and

today, to see that I am being eaten alive (dramatic, sure... but this is ME we

are talking about!)... I have a small place inside wondering if I did the right

thing (my sensible mind knows I did, but my scared self isn't so sure).

So, I am allowed to do what I can... am not permitted to take a responsible role

at a birth right now... must eat before driving (or eat while driving if going

to a birth)... NO exercise beyond daily activities... and eat, Eat, EAT. Watch

the high glycemic carbs, concentrate on protein... all the things we all know

and I have been doing.

Funny how in one day I have had 3 people say they wished they had this

problem... eating like a pigaletta and still losing fat. I promise! It is NOT

fun in the least... and one *can* die from hypoglycemia. I want to eat my 2-3

small meals a day, work-out my butt off, and have a life of catching babies.

I hope that my wishes are answered soon.
