Hi Folks,

Have any of you been diagnosed with achlorhydria?(absence of stomach

acid.) It isn't all that surprising considering the surgery we had,

but it does present a problem long term for anemia.

I had my first blood transfusion 2 weeks ago today. I felt better

immediately following, but already am starting to feel low again.

Even with the trans., I was still 2-3 points below the lowest norm on

the hemoglobin level. I got 2 units of blood that brought me up to a

9.5 - 10.5, but already have started to sink.

I know since my endoscopy that I have basically no hope of recovering

my stomach acid. Luckily the thing most effected is iron, and we

already know about that.

As usual, your input and advice is welcome and appreciated.

W.
