Dang, Lyn, we in the rockies are all ears. Who was your pcp in Colo?

I'm not Lyn, but I do have a PCP who is wonderful.

She is the one who brought up wls to me in the first place. I was in her office

for yet another cortisone shot for my horribly painful arthritic knees. She said

" You know we will be getting these replaced if we can't get your weight under

control. " I started crying and she took a deep breath, got out my chart and

showed a graph she had made of the past decade of my weight loss attempts.

Showed where everytime I lost, I regained to a higher level. She said " The only

way to stop this cycle and get rid of your pain is weight loss surgery. I want

you to go see Rosie . "

While I was on my way home, armed with a pile of info and ready to head straight

to the computer and start researching, she not only called Dr. but she

also called my husband and told him that he was not to fight her on this if he

wanted a healthy wife. (She has treated him for 10 years too and knows him

pretty well.)

When it came time for me to document the weight loss attempts for the insurance,

she sent them her chart.

She is a real tiger who fights for her patients. I am honored to be one of them.

I'm printing these to take to my doc. She'll love it.

To illustrate even more how wonderful she is: she diagnosed my son with Candida

Albicans (systemic yeast infection) and put him on the Carb Addict's program

when he was 7. He's now almost 13 and this has been his eating plan ever since.

He eats his carbs and sweets at his school lunch time so he feels like one of

the gang. Has protein shake for bfast with me; eats a protein dinner with the

family at night. The only exception is on game days (he's a baseball player)

when he has to have a few carbs before a game. Works great.

She has vision and clarity and courage. And she cares about her patient

families. We are blessed!
