Bill: Bob was told he couldn't have any mechanically soft food, only

pureed. The reason he had to go to the hospital was because he couldn't

swallow his chopped medicine (in applesauce) the other night. At the

time Charlotte got the feeding tube, could she walk & talk? Bob can't do

either one. He's wheelchair bound & speech & physical therapy hasn't

helped at all. Was Charlotte able to eat mechanically chopped while she

had the tube & was it used only for meds & liquid? I don't know much

about this, but I need some answers before he has another episode & he

Sorry, I did not look ahead to this one. No, when Charlotte got

the tube, she could not move a muscle or talk, from an infection. A month

later (after the infection was cured and the tube implanted) with much

daily therapy, she was able to speak somewhat, help with a transfer

and go home. Medicare was much better in 1998 about PT and ST and

she continued to get it for about 3 months, it HELPED greatly. She

was able to eat mechanically soft (even small cut up fiet migeon) for over

two more years. This improved her quality of life as she loved desserts

)
