Guest guest
Does anyone have a favorite mattress? We gave up our waterbed and now I can't get comfortable. I'm trying the Cuddle Ewe but its not soft enough and has a funny smell. I wonder if I need to get another waterbed. I can't afford the airbeds or tempur-pedic mattress. I liked the isotonic pad but it lost its bounce in a few months. Your suggestions are appreciated! Guest guest
YES! I went from a waterbed to a Simmon's Beautyrest Acheiver Pillowtop. Now for the king-size just the mattress ran 700$. We didn't buy the box springs because we put it in the waterbed frame. I tell you its the BEST investment I ever made. If I was completely broke and lost this mattress I'd find a way to get a new one. I'm sure you could find a cheaper model out there..maybe denver mattress, but i'm definately sold on this pillowtop. > Does anyone have a favorite mattress? Guest guest
My Sealy Postropedic quilted cushion top and bottom is a life saver. They are extremely expensive but I got mine at a Macy's outlet -- very good prices. I chose one with a mismatched box spring-even better price. Then the person waiting on me told me to come back in a week when everything would be half off. I waited, hoping no one would buy it. They didn't and I got it for an extremely good price. I put the two of them on the floor, no legs or dust under it, and it is just the right height for a bed. That cushion top adds a lot. Yeah, I would pay full price for the next one if I had to or get a very good firm foam rubber mattress, which is what I had before. Guest guest
Sleep problems, Yes I have had them all of my life, as I have lived with Diabetes and even now with WLS. I have come to the conclusion that my mind and body continues to react to the days stress of anxiety and food or exercise depending on what I have been doing. The best help I have been able to find is a combination of medications from my Doctors. Amitriptyline is for Anxiety, but it works wonders for sleep. I have a standing order for 50mg-100mg. It takes about 2-3 hours to work on me and I can usually go to sleep. At the time of going into bed I take a Lorazepam (controlled drug) for anxiety to help me relax and the combination is 90% - 100% effective. The Lorazepam is very quick acting and calms me down right away. It is also addicting, so Doctors are very strict with it. The bottom line of my sleep problems ( I use to have sleep apnea before WLS) is I feel that it is having Anxiety, stress, worry, etc. From the food part, there is no way I am going to bed if my stomach is hungry, unless I am so tired it overrides the feelings of hunger. In these cases I usually have a protein bar. If I eat too much I never do get to sleep and I end up watching an other movie or updating my computer software. Check with your pcp, he/she can most likely give you samples of Amitriptyline to try for sleep, it is well known for this side effect. If you have a lot of anxiety review it with you pcp and see about Lorazepam on a prn basics for your anxiety and try it at bedtime.
