I'm sure someone else will chime in here with some information about the shakes being pre-digested and more easily absorbed than food protein. I'm chiming in to say " stay tuned for 3 months " and I'll tell you what works for me. I am a distal procedure, and have regularly been eating 120 grams of protein since about 6 months post-op, 35 grams in a shake, the rest food. My protein levels, although still normal, have continued to drop. So, for the next three months, I am diligently increasing to 3 shakes a day and we'll see if it makes a difference. Now, I don't like this. I would way rather eat the protein. But clearly I am not absorbing enough to keep my blood levels up. Kate
