Guest guest Posted August 12, 2002 Report Share Posted August 12, 2002 a few weeks back michelle was speaking of the new labels for carbs and several people asked her to explain it in more detail. well today I came across a real live label on a so called low carb 0 sugar chocolate bar. it can be debated whether its a 15g. carb bar or a 1.3g. carb bar - depends on the old or new label! so under nutrition facts it says: carbs <2, sugar 0, fiber <1 and some other stuff like calories, fat, protein, etc.. then in a small yellow box to the right it says carbohydrate facts: total carb 15g - fiber 0.7g - malitol 13g _____________ new effective carbs 1.3g includes only those carbs that cause a noted effect on blood sugar. pretty interesting stuff - remove the fiber from the carbs and the fake sugar and it becomes low carb! what a way to diet - why didn't we think of this sooner! think of how much more food we could have eaten while doing atkins!! sue Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
