Guest guest
Hi all: I have a question..what determines when a patient needs to be catherized or wear diapers? Bob has had a few accidents in the last couple of weeks. He said he couldn't to get to the urinal in time. I don't know whether this is an excuse, or if he is becoming incontinent. Thanks for your answers. Regards, jerrie
Guest guest
My husband has had some problems for several years. First the frequent urge. Then not being able to hold the urine when he moved (like to get out of a car). He was treated with medication for a year or so to reduce the frequency and ability to control the urine with detrol. The detrol may well have caused a major impaction in August 2000. I do not know how you decide when. We have been catherizing (in/out 4-6 times a day) since August 2000. My husband was admitted to hospital for a major (big) bowel impaction which had also caused urine to be backed up into kidneys. Now we catherize for bladder and use Miralax to help the colon. My opinion: Let your doctor be your guide, but do not wait until you have other major problems. Marilyn in TN
