Guest guest
Illness doesn't discriminate age wise. Just because one becomes a senior whether 50 - 60 - 70 or beyond doesn't mean that the next step is frailty or death. We should be able to experience all the seasons of life in health. The pasture often looks greener on the other side and that can be deceptive. We have a historian here active at 101, my neighbor, a retired pharmacist is still going on cruises at 91, my father-in-law was almost 92 when he passed away, 6 years after a cerebral bled and more active that I am now. When younger, I had a playmate and later two classmates who never got to enjoy the springtimes of their lives, nor my father who never got through his summer. I feel as though I've been stripped of my retirement plans, but hope the winter season will have blessings. No matter where we are, we all have dreams and hopes, being a senior doesn't mean the road ends there. Socially, things aren't much different, children move on with busy careers elsewhere, former co-workers take care of sick spouses or are sick themselves, friends and neighbors are uncomfortable dealing with a chronic illness and distant themselves, and on and on the situations are often very similar.
